Physical Exam Practice Club
Hello everyone, welcome to the Physical Exam Practice Club. This year we are continuing a great peer-led practice club where we will work on polishing your physical exam skills and prepare you for the world of physical exam OSCEs.
First of all, what are OSCEs? OSCE, or “Objective Structured Clinical Examination,” is an exam used to assess your communication, physical exam skills, and clinical knowledge. It is a time where you will be able to show off the skills you have gained throughout the year on standardized-patients in “real-life” scenarios.
Although the Year 1 OSCEs occur at the end of the school year, it is important to stay on top of your skills throughout the semesters, so that you are well prepared and your nerves are at bay during the OSCE season! Throughout the year, we will have review sessions led by your Year 2 colleagues following the end of your individual blocks. During these sessions, you will be able to review the physical exam skills you have learned and the Year 2s will give you an exclusive look into their strategies for acing the OSCEs.
Additionally, we will be organizing a talk by the physical exam master himself, Dr. Daniels, who will help you discover the best ways to approach an exam, providing tips and tricks to succeeding your first round of physical exam OSCEs.
We are happy to entertain any ideas and suggestions. Please don’t hesitate to contact us!
We look forward to working with you.
